Marty, 78, Will Warm Your Heart About Growing Old
If you're anything like me, you worry needlessly about the future: What do I do when I lose the love of my life, or when my body is too old to move like it used to? We think about these questions long enough and scare ourselves out of living a full life. Rarely do we ever think to ask our elders what is actually like to be what we consider old. The reason why is probably that we're scared of what they'll say, which is a kind of backward logic since we're already scared about it. Why not take a chance, and bet our bravery on hearing something that's actually really reassuring? That preferable outcome seems far more likely after listening to Marty Daniels reminisce about 60 years of dancing with his wife.
After watching this video, I hope Marty's story moves you from a corner of fear to a place of hopefulness. Life most certainly gets difficult as we get older, but that doesn't mean our senses of adventure and curiosity have to wane. Like Marty says, "As one door closes, another opens," and for some reason when he says that, it isn't cliché.
