Man Couldn’t Sleep, Wins $7.5 Million On Scratch-Off Ticket
A sleepless night for New York retiree, Salvator Gandolfo, paid off big time after a late night scratch off ticket resulted in a $7.5 million win.
As Gandolfo explained to the New York Post, on April 1 thoughts of lost loved ones kept him awake until the wee hours of the night. So instead of trying to catch some extra zzz’s, he decided to start his day.
“It was about 3 or 4 in the morning. I couldn’t sleep. I woke up and ate breakfast. I put on my clothes, got in my car and drove,” Gandolfo said told the newspaper.
Gandolfo ended up at a convenience store spending $25 on a “Silver Spectacular” scratch off ticket. When he saw it was a winner, Gandolfo told the NY Post he was “shocked.”
He opted to take the lump sum payout of $4.6 million, which he says will be spent on traveling, a brand new car, and helping out his family financially.
“I am a simple man,” he told the NY Post, “the one thing I always wanted was happiness. You can’t put a price on happiness, but it makes me happy to help my family.”
