Make A Wish Foundation Helps Friends Keep Pact To Go To Olympics Together
Growing up together in Vail, Colorado, Thomas Walsh and Mikaela Shiffrin vowed to go to the Olympics some day as members of the USA ski team. But Walsh hit a road block when hospital treatments for Ewings sarcoma, a bone cancer, kept him off the slopes. Through the Make A Wish foundation, Walsh was able to be there when Shiffrin became the youngest Olympian to take home a gold medal in slalom skiing. It was a moment of surprise not to be forgotten.
