Kids Read Their Favorite Books To Get Free Haircut
Have you ever heard of paying for haircut by reading a book? Meet Courtney Holmes, a barber who decided to give new do’s to children who read their favorite books.
“I just want to support kids reading,” Holmes said.
One of his customers was Tayshawn Kirby, a nine-year-old boy, who got a haircut after reading “Fats, Oils and Sweets” by Carol Parenzan. After seeing the new look, his brother, Titan Feeney decided to take his turn in the chair.
"I just want to help out the kids, help out the community, make sure the kids are able to read a book and get a nice haircut for school," he said.
Courtney decided to share his idea during the second annual Back to School Bash in Comiskey Park. Many people loved the idea and Mark Youth Enrichment gave away books during the event. The coordinator, Beth McGorry, enjoyed seeing Courtney help these young children and believe it was a wonderful idea. So who else would read their favorite to land themselves a free haircut?
