These Burmese Kids Will Inspire The World
No matter where you are, children are out future. In a small Thailand village, Burmese refugee children share hopes and dreams for growing up.
The woman in the poster held up by several children is Aung San Suu Kyi. She is is a Burmese opposition politician and the General Secretary of the National League for Democracy. Suu Kyi is known as a really positive, and inspirational figure throughout Burma.
While visiting this village, the filmmakers brought a couple flip cameras, which are cheap, easy to use, and shoot in full HD video! The kids in the village were given one to use for the day and they did a great job of capturing moments with their friends and images of their daily lives. The shared experience and results were so positive that the filmmakers ended up giving them one of the cameras to continue documenting their village and telling their stories.
The kids are going to work with their art teacher, who is also a journalist, and he's going to take care of charging the cameras, and transferring the footage to a computer. He's going to teach them documentary techniques, and will give them little video assignments so their learning will go on long after the film crew has said goodbye.
