Inspiring 8-Year-Old Amputee's Dance Routine Will Move You To Tears
What do you do when your dreams seem lost? You keep going. In May 2014 Alissa Sizemore, 8, was playing outside when she was hit by a UPS truck and lost her leg below the knee. After a long recovery, and help from her community, she was able to get a prosthetic leg.
Alissa loves dance more than anything and won't let this horrific accident stop her. "I just didn't want to give up," Alissa tells PEOPLE. "Dancing has been my favorite thing since I was 4. I don't have part of my leg, but I can't let that stop me. I still want to dance."
She started practicing for a February 2015 recital. Her performance, below, was breathtaking and had the whole audience in tears. She chose to perform to Colbie Caillat's ballad Try – a song about feeling beautiful despite imperfections. You will lose it when you see what she does with her leg half way through her routine. Keep going girl, you rock! Thank you for reminding us how precious life is.
