Inmates Learn Compassion By Raising Homeless Kittens

These troubled women are learning compassion from some furry friends.

The Kitsap Humane Society, in Washington, has developed the “Pawsitive Prison Program.” Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women are paired with stray kittens. The inmates raise the kittens and get them ready for adoption. It gives the women a new responsibility while also giving the cats love and affection and preparing the cats for future adoption.

“It's a win-win for everybody involved," Cydney Berthel, an inmate to KING 5 news. "We're rehabilitating the lives of these little kittens and rehabilitating our lives too.”
