How To Improve Your Health In 60 Seconds

What if I told you there are ways to improve your health in just 60 seconds? One minute out of your day... Sign me up, right? Well there are 13 ways, so at a minute each it's really 13 minutes out of your day; but still- amazing! Now, don't expect miracles but these simple steps can definitely benefit your health and well being. With the pressures of modern day life and busy schedules it can seem almost impossible to make your health and wellness your number one priority. But add in these 13 small exercises to your day and you are on your way to a healthier, happier you.

Laugh.

I know you've heard the phrase "Laughter is the best medicine." Well there is a reason for that. It's a natural stress reliever  and boosts your heart rate. Oh, and a bonus- it burns calories!

Nibble some dark chocolate.

Not only is it delicious but it has heart health benefits and can even be good for your skin.

Find the silver lining.

Being positive helps keep you happy and can boost your immune system. Think about it, happy thoughts, happy life- right?

Rest in child’s pose.

There is a reason this is my favorite of all yoga posts. It is not only an amazing, feel good stretch but it helps relieve back pain. Rest in this pose for a minute and you will feel great afterwards. I promise!

Wear sunscreen.

Two words- skin cancer. Lather up even in the winter.

Smile

One study says people who smile the widest also live the longest. Smile as much as you can, for as long as you can, at as many people as you can. Even if you have to fake it. Smiling just makes you happier. And it is contagious. So the more you smile, the more other people will smile.

Rescue, Transform, Share: How an Ohio Soup Shack Is Saving Lives

"It really does take a village to help people," says Sandra Lettie, a volunteer with La Soupe in Cincinnati, Ohio. La Soupe is helping to build and activate just such a "village" of compassionate people from the local area around the goal of producing food from discarded produce and providing it to families in need.

According to La Soupe's CEO, Suzy DeYoung, the organization's central mission is to "rescue, transform, and share." First, volunteers with La Soupe visit grocery stores and farms to pick up produce that was going to be discarded and "rescue" it for use in the soups that the team creates. That produce is then "transformed" into healthy, delicious food by the chefs at La Soupe. Finally, the food is "shared" with those in the local community who need it.
