High Tech Shoes Help Visually Impaired With Built In GPS
Friends Krispian Lawrence and Anirudh Sharma founded the India-based Ducere Technologies in 2011; recently seizing an opportunity to help visually challenged people with the Lechal shoe. There is a smartphone app that connects to a set of polyurethane insoles, which can be inserted into any existing pair of shoes although we love this vibrant red design. After setting a destination using GPS, vibrations on different sides of each foot guide the wearer to make turns or avoid obstacles along the way. Lechal appropriately translates into "let's go" or "take me there" in Hindi.
