Produce Pete helps us stay healthy while self-quarantined

With the emergence of Covid-19, we have all been quarantining in our homes, and now it seems for an indefinite amount of time. As a result, people scrambled to find ways to stay fit and try not to fall into bad eating habits.

But Covid-19 also brought us what seemed like a surplus of time and people began becoming more creative with cooking and preparing new meals. One popular food type that has had a resurgence has been Shakes and Smoothies -- in part because they are a quick, easy way to satisfy your appetite.

Some great ideas of different smoothies, check out Produce Pete, celebrity chef formerly of the Today show. In his mini-series "For Pete's Shakes', he shows you how to create a great smoothies with different health benefits. All easy to make.

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH IN A GLASS

Pete shows off his "Fountain of Youth" smoothie which highlights two main ingredients: kale and avocado. He even gives tips on how to find the best avocado and how to distinguish the differences among different types of kale. Pete focuses on the avocado, saying that's what makes this drink special. It makes the smoothie's texture smooth and sweet tasting. As you can see by the ingredients of the smoothie listed in the video, and in its description, this smoothie is loaded with vitamins and minerals and is a very healthy option that can use as one of your healthy snack or meal options! THE PERFECT SHAKE FOR HEALTHIER HAIR & NAILS

Pete concocts a shake that he says is good for your hair, nails, and skin. The magic is loading up with a variety of fruits and vegetables. Pete also describes how to pick out and cut the perfect fruit and vegetable, so that you can bring home the ripest, best tasting food. He also offers tips on how to most effectively extract the nutrients from the produce to make your smoothie as healthy as possible, resulting in the most delicious smoothie. With all of the fruits and vegetables packed into this, you aren't just consuming an extremely healthy smoothie, you are also filling your body with essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to make your body healthier and stronger! RELAXING SHAKE FOR GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

Ahhh… a good night's sleep. Kinda tough for many these crazy days. In this video, Pete describes his special smoothie filled with ingredients that give you certain nutrients that can help you sleep better. The main ingredient of this smoothie is spinach. It also contains a couple of somewhat uncommon smoothie ingredients like pumpkin seeds and almonds. The ingredients are combined to help you sleep at night, filling you with nutrients such as antioxidants, lycopene, potassium, and fiber that will help to do that. Cherries are also included in this smoothie, which Pete says will help with arthritis because of their powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits designed to help ease pain.
