Girl Scouts Bring Beauty To Local Community Center
The Girl Scouts of Troop 63140 sure earned their Bronze Award with this project. The girls added beauty, art and nature to their local community center. The troop from Shelton, CT helped beautify the Shelton Community Center to earn the highest award in Junior Girl Scouts.
For the interior, they personally painted artwork to decorate the walls. These pieces of art featured various activities held at the center such as dance and reading in the library. For the outside, they helped spruce up the area. The girls weeded, installed a new border, planted annuals and perennials and scattered fresh mulch. A local business donated the flowers and plants. They picked a lot of orange to represent Shelton's color.
The center is a symbol for the community and should be just as beautiful as the people it serves. The group consists of six 5th graders who all personally participate in activities at the center. They were more than thrilled to partake in this project... and they aren't stopping there. They will visit throughout the summer to water the garden.
