From Middle School Dance to Wedding Dance
Only in middle school do we think our dance partners will some day be our life partners. Eventually we grow up and look back, sometimes fondly, other times with disbelief we had such crazy notions of love.
With our hands resting on the shoulders of our sweethearts, Savage Garden sang what we were all thinking: "I knew I loved you before I met you," and in a similar telepathic serendipity, the next song would be all like, "I want to stand with you on a mountain." Then things would pick up and we'd sing along as Mariah Carey eloquently crooned out, "YOU got me feelin' EMOSHUNZZ!" Never did we think a love so strong would ever quit. Often was the case, however, that that love would quit and the hand we'd hold between lunch and science would be the hand of another.
Unless, of course, you're Jeffrey and Alexa Schultz.
These guys found love in middle school (a hopeless place) and held on. To prove it, they juxtaposed a photo taken of them at their first dance together with a picture taken at their wedding:
According to The Huffington Post, the couple met when they were 13, and learned they both had crushes on each other during recess. They casually dated until ninth grade, but were incredibly bashful around each other.
"We probably said one word to each other during [the dance] and when it was over, probably ran back over to our group of friends all giddy. That's just how we were for a while, super shy!" Jeffrey said.
They started up their relationship again in their junior year of high school and married four years later in August 2011.
Below are more photos of Jeffrey and Alexa as cute crushes and later on as happy newlyweds.
