Five-Year-Old Gets Life-Saving Liver Transplant From College Student
Sage Baker is a five-year-old leukemia survivor who was in desperate need of a liver transplant after cancer treatments damaged her liver. Her mother, Athena Alexander, asked anyone and everyone for help. One stranger, Molly Bricker, heard the plea and knew that she had to help.
Bricker, who is a Regent University law student, turned down a summer internship position to help Sage.
The partial liver transplant took place on June 4 and Sage and her family continue to stay near the hospital to ensure that the transplant is working properly.
Bricker's father passed away one year ago from cancer, so she felt a real connection with this family she was helping.
Sage's family wrote on Facebook "We can't thank Molly Bricker enough for saving Sage's life. We all know she didn't have much time left without the transplant. Thank you so much for giving my baby girl a second chance at life Molly! I'm so glad God sent you to us! You gave our family a true miracle at just the right time!"
