Equinox health clubs reported on five ingredients that are trending in L.A. by top chefs in the city, unusual items that lend flavor and health benefits to any dish. There's Espelette peppers from France, turned into a rich red powder that is full of flavor and antioxidants, to Tamarind, the sour and tart flavor in Thai cooking that's rich in vitamins. Persimmon is being featured in mustard, adding antioxidants and vitamins along with a flavor boost. Cipollini onions are also high in antioxidants and they release a natural sugar that caramelizes while cooking. And finally, honeycombs bring great texture, sweetness and may also boost immune function.
