Expert Barbara Reich Organizes Home For Special Needs Family

For professional organizer Barbara Reich, no cluttered room is a challenge. With a 360-degree approach to organizing, Barbara can take any room from messy to magical!

In Only Good TV's hit web series, "Life Organized with Barbara Reich," Barbara puts her organizational skills to work in an effort to improve the lives of those who need it most. In this newest episode, Barbara works her organization magic in the home of James and Kathy Hurler. They are two busy parents of three adopted albino Chinese children, Logan, Bei and Fei.

James is an enthusiastic collector of Star Wars figurines and a plethora of toys. As their family has grown, James and Kathy have struggled to find enough space for both James and the kids to play. In addition to the limited space, the lack of organization in the house makes matters more complicated for the visually impaired children who are legally blind as a result of albanism.

With more than 15 years of experience, Barbara has appeared on TODAY and has also written an award-winning book for Simon & Schuster, "Secrets Of An Organized Mom," where she teaches readers how to apply the four steps of organizing - Purge, Design, Organize, Maintain.

Watch as Barbara takes the bull by the horns, decluttering the family den, consolidating and separating the grown up toys (James has quite a Star Wars collection) from the children's toys, and creating a cohesive space for the grown and the still growing to unwind and explore. When Barbara is done, there will be room for Han Solo and his Millennium Falcon!

Their research focused on canine assistance for PTSD. Ultimately, they started a non-profit organization. K9s For Warriors, dedicated to providing service dogs to warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of their military service (post 9/11).

Dance Gave Her Love, a Community, and an Identity

At 2 1/2 years old, Shaina Schwartz and her Mom went to see the Nutcracker. Even though this was the first time she had ever seen any kind of a dance performance, as soon as it was over she excitedly said, "Mommy, that's what I want to do!"

Her long road toward becoming a dancer and then an owner and founder of a dance company had its share of ups and downs. Shaina started taking ballet lessons at a professional studio in New Hampshire at 5 years old and in her younger years, the regimen and regularity of the training was a good fit for her serious nature.
