Therapy Dog Builds Confidence In Kids Learning To Read
This week's Chicken Soup For The Soul moment brings you the cutest tutor ever! Gizmo, an adorable therapy dog, is helping kids learn to read!
If you love to read, then you'll definitely love Gizmo! Gizmo is a therapy dog with Paws For Friendship, Inc. and the Hartford Public Library's program "Paws To Read." Twice a month, Gizmo visits the library and provides a gentle atmosphere for readers who might have some trouble reading aloud to others. Gizmo's presence helps calm students down, gives them motivation to tell the story, and provides a cute, furry ball of support to the kids. The goal of this project is to help students to become more confident to read in class, speak out loud, and be active in their classrooms and learning environments.
Check out this heartwarming video where we visit the library to learn more about Gizmo and the impact he makes on readers in his community!
