Disabled 4-Year-Old Gets To Surf Thanks To Wave Riding Therapy Dog
In an effort to raise awareness for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, one therapy dog is hitting the open sea! Ricochet is a very special therapy dog... She loves to surf! She held a surf session to raise awareness and wipe out SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). 4 year old Logan Velchansky, along with other children who are afflicted, did something they never imagines... SURF!
Logan was a little scared of sharks, but once he hit his first wave all fear vanished. Pleading 'again, again, again' it was clear Logan was having the time of his life. The young boy was diagnosed at 14 months old and has little use of his muscles. This disease has not robbed him of his spirit though. He is your average 4-year-old who loves to have fun, get in trouble and be silly!
Thanks to the non-profit, Puppy Prodigies, and the experienced surfing volunteers, these boys and girls were able to experience the unimaginable. The event was also sponsored by Cure SMA and Isis Pharmaceuticals.
