Determined Quadriplegic Defies All Odds; Soars To New Heights
When he was 20 years old Dave Jacka crashed his motorcycle and was left with only 6% body function. Although he was now a quadriplegic he did not want to be completely reliant on other people. He set a goal to be able to get himself into bed. 2 years after the accident he achieved this goal. Now, twenty some odd years later he has not given up and proves to be one of the most inspiring and determined people on the planet. Dave set out to defy all odds, to surpass all limits set against him. He trained for 9 years to be the first quadriplegic to fly a plane solo. He successfully flew across Australia, where he happily lives with his wife. "For me its freedom. My disability isn't there anymore. We can all achieve so much. Most people have no idea what their true potential is, and we are limited by what we think we can do. I'm surprised everyday by what I can do with my disability. I don't thin I've reached the top.. not yet," Dave said of flying and his disability.
