Cop Personally Houses Homeless Woman And Baby In A Hotel
A member of Maryland's Prince County Police Department is making headlines for something he did recently. Cpl. Che' Atkinson came across a woman and her baby and learning they had no home and hadn't eaten in days.
To make matters worse, he also learned she was a victim of domestic violence. After no one in her family came to help her, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
"I told [the woman] ... I'm going to find you a place … I'm going to put you up for the night,” Atkinson said to the news outlet.
Atkinson used his own money to house the family in a hotel room for the night. He also provided them with food and drinks. He was able to find a carseat and personally brought them to the hotel.
“I had the extra money,” Atkinson told WUSA. “What would it hurt just to put them up for a night to make sure they're safe?"
His act of kindness caught the attention of people on Facebook, with over 16,000 likes and 4,000 shares. Hopefully his selfless behavior catches on and more people help members of their community if needed.
