Cleveland Clinic Is Treating Physician Burn Out In An Amazing Way
Hospitals have various procedures to handle emergency situations: "Code Blue" for medical emergencies, "Code Pink" for an abducted infant, and "Code Red" for fire. Now, there is "Code Lavender" for stress and burnout. The measure to reduce stress among hospital staff and patients may seem unusual or even overboard, but according to many professionals and studies, it should have been implented a LOT sooner than it was.
I find this bit of news inspirational because Cleveland Clinic takes Code Lavender seriously, despite the age old school of thought, "Go, go, go, stay tough and just get through it." Treating staff and clients like humans is something all institutions should adopt, even if all it amounts to is letting people know that someone has their backs.
