Childhood Cancer Patient is Now a Doctor at Hospital Where She Was Treated
Jen Pratt underwent her chemotherapy treatments at a hospital in Minnesota called Children's St. Paul. They went on for a year, and Jen remembers counting down to the last one. Because that last treatment meant that Jen would get to go on the trip she had wished for months before: a trip to Disney World.
You see, Jen was just 11 years old when she beat cancer.
Her trip to Disney World was granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and her experience with Make-A-Wish was almost as life-changing as her battle with cancer. Because it inspired Jen to pursue a career as a doctor.
"I wanted to give back and support other families the way that I felt so supported," recalls Dr. Pratt." From that point on I knew that I wanted to go into medicine."
In an incredible turn of events, Dr. Jen Pratt now works at the same hospital where she underwent chemotherapy during her childhood. She even works directly with some of the nurses who helped treat her during her stay!
Dr. Pratt says that there's nowhere she'd rather be: "Honestly, it's a privilege to be able to work here. I love it. I love my job."
