Charities Share How They Would Benefit From Powerball Winnings
Unless you are on a hiatus from all technology and people, you know the Powerball is up to $1.5 billion! That is a whole lot of money. Everyone and anyone is buying a ticket. While we all have ways we would spend it, is giving to a charity on your list? Not only are the charities very deserving, donating money to a 501c3 can help reduce the lottery winner’s taxable income. Local news in Reno, Nevada, KOLO 8, asked local charities how they would benefit from a share of the winnings. Any amount helps!
"At the Reno Ronald McDonald House we keep families close when their child is in the hospital, so a large donation of a million dollars would allow us to care for far more than the 160 families we care for each year," said Rachel Gattuso with the Ronald McDonald House.
"At Volunteers of America, we save lives, we change lives. That is probably what I would do with our million dollars is work on the housing and the mental health issues. I would hire some highly qualified therapists and get them in here and have them start working with the people on a daily basis,” said Pat Cashell with Volunteers of America.
