Celebrating Inspiring People on National Cancer Survivors Day

OnlyGood TV is joining in the Celebration of Life that is National Cancer Survivor Day by honoring those who have survived and supporting those recently diagnosed. The inspiring stories that we share below are reminders that there is life after a cancer diagnosis that can be fruitful and rewarding. Here are just two stories about cancer survivors:

Beating Breast Cancer on The Runway www.youtube.com

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis for women and the second leading cause of cancerous death for women. Thankfully, there are activists who are striving to give these breast cancer survivors a moment of freedom and a sense of relief to embrace their lives and womanhood proudly. #Cancerland is a media platform given to metastatic cancer survivors to raise awareness on this disease and honor the people who have overcome it as well. Champagne Joy founded #Cancerland in 2017 at Fashion Week in NYC and her turnout was exceptional! The #Cancerland fashion show featured 16 models that wore designs specifically made for people who have had mastectomies. Joy passed away a month after the show but her legacy continues through her closest friend, Mira Sorvino. Joy achieved her goal of spreading awareness on metastatic cancer and gave dozens of women a opportunity to be reminded of what self-love and confidence felt like.

Young Hero is More Than Just A Cancer Survivor www.youtube.com

Another cancer survivor, this time a young heroic girl named Julia Katharine Alexander was diagnosed with an ependymoma almost 10 inches when she was very young. She was blessed to be able to recover from such a thing and she turned her trauma into a tremendous and motivational story. Brave The Shave is an event that was created to help empower children and adults battling cancer to help them learn how to not only survive but to thrive in life after cancer. This movement has raised over $250,000 but the money doesn't compare to the rewarding feeling of making a difference in the lives of those who may not have the influence and encouragement needed to reclaim the lives they almost lost. Julia is now an ambassador for Brave The Shave and uses her story to inspire other people to love their lives no matter what they are going through.
