Boy Who Won't Leave His Grandma's Side Gets The Sweetest Surprise Party
The staff at hospitals frequently provide comfort and support in the hardest times in families' lives. And sometimes, they truly go above and beyond.
For the Johnson family, nurses made sure that one young family member's birthday wouldn't be forgotten while he was spending so much time at the hospital. Martez Johnson, who was about to turn seven, had been by his grandmother's side non-stop as she underwent cancer treatment. And the hospital staff noticed. So they planned a Spiderman-themed party, but kept it very quiet until the big day arrived.
After walking into his surprise party, "I didn't know WHAT was happening!" Martez remembers.
Complete with presents, a Spiderman cake, and even a living, breathing Spiderman, Martez's birthday had everything a newly-seven-year-old could want.
After the celebration, Sharon, Martez's grandmother, reflected on her grandson's amazing commitment to her.
"This was a very special day," she said, "and Martez deserves everything he got today."
Sharon has spent lots of time at the hospital where the birthday party took place, but she is determined to get out of there as soon as possible.
According to Sharon: "I'm going to beat the cancer, because I cannot leave my baby."
