Boy Gives Birthday Money To Children Of Fallen Officer
Carson Atkins of Mississippi celebrated his 9th birthday by helping out others in need. Atkins had heard about children who had recently lost their father in the line of duty. Atkins raised nearly $1,000 with help from his mother, April, and donated to the family's children to be used however needed. However, Atkins himself was in for a very special surprise.
During his party, police arrived to award the young boy for his kind heart and donation. They gave Atkins special badges and medals that they had earned to thank him for what he had done. Not only that, but the brother of the fallen officer wanted to give Atkins something very special for wanting to help his niece and nephew. Atkins and Benjamin Deen, the fallen officer, had shared a similar passion, baseball, so Deen's brother gave Atkins some of Deen's old collectable baseball cards as a thank you.
Atkins said that he knew police officers and their family give so much to him everyday, so he wanted to give something back in return.
