Book People Unite Campaign Features Storybook Characters Aplenty
The organization behind the notion that Reading Is Fundamental is now running an ad featuring favorite storybook characters to promote the website BookPeopleUnite.org. This non-profit is the nation's largest devoted to children's literacy, and since 1966, 35 million kids have received 400 million new, free books. For many, these are the only books the children own. The tagline, "One book can make a difference," drives the point home.
From Pinocchio and Madeline to Babar the Elephant, there are plenty of your favorite storybook characters in this whimsical video to promote the love of a good book. The soundtrack also boasts some great cameos: Jack Black, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Martin of Coldplay, John Legend, Nate Ruess of fun. and Carrie Brownstein from Portlandia. It was produced by The Roots, house band of the new Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
