Blind Teen Gains Independence While Working At Special Movie Theater
In this installment of 'Prospect Profiles', a series highlighting the special employees working at the Prospector Theater, Ridgefield CT, we bring you Thomas Acocella. The state-of-the-art theater employs disabled adults, such as Thomas, to give them meaningful work and experience. He opens up about finding exactly that.
Thomas is blind which makes it hard for him to get around, let alone find work. But since he started working at the Prospector, he has found a new sense of independence. Thomas' father states, "He's becoming more independent. He now has a reason for getting up every day." Thomas clearly found his place as a ticker taker and announcer. He is becoming more comfortable and thriving in his positions at the theater.
