Blind Dog Smiles & Brings Joy As Therapy Dog
Joanne George saved a Golden Retriever puppy from a puppy mill at the age of 2. "Smiley" was born with dwarfism and without eyes. Now, 12 years later, Smiley lives up to his name improving lives of people who need his love. Smiley spends his days as a therapy dog. He brings joy to kids with special meeds and nursing home residents. Joanne never doubted how special her dog was. But one incident in particular warmed her heart most. A patient did not speak at all and never smiled. But one visit with Smiley changed that. "One day, Smiley put his feet up in front of [Teddy] and he started smiling and making noise," George said. "All of the nurses rushed into the room and said they've never seen him smile -- never seen any kind of reaction." Smiley was definitely born to be a therapy dog!
