On World Kindness Day, Finding Kindness In Unexpected Places
In honor of World Kindness Day, we want to highlight Virginia Mahoney. Virginia is a co-founder of BKind, an initiative to encourage more acts of kindness in all people.
Of course, "kindness" is a broad term. Not everyone would describe the idea the same way, although our definitions probably overlap in some meaningful ways. To explore the concept of kindness, and how it can pop up in unexpected places, Virginia sat down with someone whose devotion to being kind might surprise you.
Gary "The Kid" Stark Jr. is a professional boxer and trainer. He knows that his sport of choice is more closely associated with violence than kindness, but he has purposefully and successfully combined the two. As a Boxing Coach and Mentor at the Cops And Kids Foundation, Gary recruits kids without access to sports or other extracurricular activities to participate in classes, providing them with a productive outlet for their energy and a person to look up to.
To Gary, kindness really comes down to "thinking about yourself a little less and thinking about others a little more." We can all agree on that!
