Beer + Bourbon + BBQ + Bacon = The 4B Festival 2014

Everything is made better with bacon...but what happens when you throw beer, bourbon and BBQ into the mix? The 4B Festival is here to answer that very question. Celebrating this amazing quartet of  culinary decadence, the inaugural edition of the 4B Fest hits New Haven, CT this March and promises to be a veritable foodie wonderland.

From their press release:

From microbrews to pork belly, the 4B Festival will bring together national and local purveyors all in one place to offer the most delicious and creative samplings to “4B” aficionados, all highlighted with musical performances, interactive art displays and live competitions among home brewers, BBQ taste tests and a bacon eating contest for the real meat eaters.

Sounds delicious!

We had the pleasure of chatting with 4B creator David Salinas who dished about the fest.

How did you come up with the idea for the 4B Fest?

We’ve been looking for the perfect event to throw that would bring people to New Haven. New Haven is an incredible city and deserving of such a festival, especially since it’s the culinary capital of Connecticut. We feel that the four categories of beer, bourbon, bacon and BBQ complement each other really well. They each represent extremely popular food and beverages that we personally love and believe a lot of people do too. And if they’re not sure, they should come to the festival to try them out and see for themselves.

Why these four particular "B"s? Are there any other "B"s that didn't make the chosen four that could have?

Beer, bourbon, bacon and BBQ are just perfect complements of each other. Many people have made jokes about what other "Bs" could be, naturally, but none have been taken into consideration. But we’re enjoying everyone’s creativity.

There's no doubt that these four "B"s are awesome by themselves but what makes them even better together?

Lately chefs and mixologists have been crossing over to create everything from Bacon Bourbon Manhattans to Maple Bourbon Barbecue Chicken. We have some surprises lined up for the festival that will tease the palettes and truly answer your question. You need to join us to really taste the experience.

What can guests expect to experience during the event?

We hope everyone gets to explore the various tastes of these 4 Bs. This isn't another run of the mill beer fest. This is the 4Bs.

Putting you on the spot: If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring one brand of beer, brand of bourbon, type of BBQ and style of bacon to enjoy for the rest of your days what would they be? Choose wisely...

I would bring a Pumpkin Ale. It's my current obsession. I've been trying every brand possible. For my Bourbon, I'd probably bring a 20 year-old Pappy Van Winkle. BBQ would be smoked brisket, and I’d take some pork belly.

Tickets are on sale right now at There's even a discounted "Designated Driver" ticket option so you can enjoy all of the tasty treats and still be able to get home safely.

We'll see you there!
