Beep Baseball - Baseball for the Blind & Visually Impaired

The Long Island Bombers are a dedicated group of baseball enthusiasts and athletes from Long Island, NY. They just happen to be blind and visually impaired.

The Bombers play beep baseball, a modified version of traditional baseball that uses a beeping ball and buzzing bases to guide the players to score a run.

Many of the players are not allowed to get involved in sports at their schools due to a lack of equipment and the fear of injury. At the Bombers, players have everything they need to be competitive, meet other people like them, and engage in a game they thought they would never have the opportunity to otherwise.

The Bombers gather the blind and visually impaired from across Long Island and gives them a community to bond with and a great game to play!

Ted Fass, Executive Director of the Bombers, is also a player. "When I had the experience of playing baseball again, it just brought back the memories of being a Little Leaguer, before I lost my sight," he shared. "Besides the game, i really enjoy creating the opportunity for visually impaired and blind athletes to come out here and play baseball."

Watch how these athletes show us that no matter what the obstacles, the ability to succeed lies within all of us.
