Last year, we had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Katherine Higgins. The aspiring ballerina had been accepted to The Royal Ballet School Anthwerp in Belgium. She picked up her comfortable life in Wilton, CT and spent her first two years of high school training in Belgium.
Almost two years later, we are so proud to announce the accomplishments of Katherine. She told us she would follow her dreams... and that is exactly what she did - all the way to Paris. The 18-year-old was offered a contract with Paris Opera Ballet!
After years of training and traveling, the ballerina has landed a position at the world's oldest and most well known ballet companies. Her new life has begun in magical city and we wish her all the luck in the world!
"Something that I've learned is to be yourself," said the amazing dancer. "Young girls pick a particular dancer and try to be just like them. By being yourself, you can differentiate yourself from all of the other little girls who want to be ballerinas. You need to remember why you love it. Performing, sharing how I feel with the audience, hearing that someone was moved or touched by my performance, it's what I think about when it's hard to wake up in the morning. Anyone who dances is blessed to get to share it with others. It's why I dance. That's what you need to focus on."
