AP Photo Reunites Missing Young Man With His Family
The Associated Press photographer who took the above photograph assumed her subject was homeless. Nicholas Sullivan, 20, was one of several people huddling up against a steam grate, gathering warmth a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol. She introduced herself to the group and started taking photos to illustrate the severe cold weather hitting the country. Struck by how young Sullivan was, Martin introduced herself again and learned his name. When the photo was published, Sullivan's parents recognized him right away.
