Amazing 9-Year-Old Makes Handicap Swing Sets Possible For Her Friend
One incredible fourth grader is making a huge impact on her community. Jayci Stubblefield, 9, has set out to change the life of her friend, Rylea Lambert. Rylea has cerebral palsy and lives in a wheelchair. The 2 have been inseparable since they met two years ago.... that is until they reach the playground.
It broke Jayci's heart to realize Rylea can't play on the school's playground like the other kids. Her wheelchair can't travel on the gravel and even if it could, what would she do? There are no wheelchair accessible toys. Jayci has vowed to change that.
"I kept saying in my mind, 'Why doesn't every kid get to play?'" Jayci said "And I was like, 'Every kid deserves the chance to play.' No kid is different except for the way they learn. That's all that's different."
She came up with an idea and took it to her principal. She wants new foundation for the playground and wheelchair accessible swings. The chairs themselves cost $10,000 each, and they want one for each 4 schools in their town. To raise the money, Jayci is selling tshirts and bracelets.
This is the most beautiful testament of a friendship. Every child deserves the change to play... and even more, a friendship like this!
