All or Nothing Day!

Have you ever heard of All or Nothing Day?  Me neither, until now!  It's today!  It's all or nothing, folks, so put a smile on your face and put yourself out there!  Amanda has some ideas for what she's going to do today and, as for me, I'm going to fly as far as I can without stopping!  It's all or nothing!

I have to admit that I'm humming the tune of Cher's hit "All or Nothing" as I type this. And her song actually rings true to what today is all about: living like it's your last day on Earth. So let’s give it our all! If you're not sure what to do for this day, here’s what I’ll be doing.

I'm motivated to... call a friend that I haven’t spoken to in far too long. Sometimes life gets crazy busy, but we forget about the people that are the family we choose. So I’ll be making a couple phone calls after work to some people I simply haven’t chatted with lately.

I’m motivated to... go for a run. Running is a passion of mine, and even though I’m in the midst of marathon training, sometimes I get so caught up in the need to run a certain amount of miles that I forget why I started running in the first place.

I’m motivated to... cook a new recipe. Despite the kitchen that’s truly only meant for one person, I forget how much I enjoy finding a new recipe and then creating my own version of it. Hopefully, something tasty will come of this. I guess it’s all or nothing!

I’m motivated to... take the puppy for a long walk instead of watching TV. I know that running I do for me, but after work, exercise, and dinner, I turn into a couch potato. This may be what I want to do, but what about little Louie who was locked up all day? So off for a walk we go.

I’m motivated to... write a love note. I used to leave posts and love notes for my boyfriend to find in the house, but since we moved, I have failed miserably at this. I know he appreciates them, so I’m going to be sure to write an extra long one.

I’m motivated to... say an extra I love you to my family. In the hustle and bustle of phone conversations, or seeing each other in passing, I forget to tell them how important they are or how much I love them. So I’ll be saying those three words extra loud and clear.

All of these things that I listed seem to be actually doing something for a change. I guess when you live the day as if it’s your last, you want to be out and about and enjoying yourself. I think it’s a great reminder that putting off some of the things or people you love truly makes us the happiest. So why not be happier more often by practicing more “All or Nothing” days. What’s on your list of things to do today?

The flickering neon sign reflects eerily off the aging, chrome exterior; a long smooth marble counter with spinning stools draws your gaze left and right as you enter; the checkered linoleum floor seeps under the rows of back-to-back leather booths enveloped by the rain streaked wrap-around windows. You may think you've entered a typical American roadside eatery, but your experience here will be anything but ordinary.

You have just stepped into the Bendix Diner, a staple in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey since the 1940's. It's no surprise that The Bendix can serve up a sizzling Burger with deep fried onion rings and a frothy chocolate shake. What is unique about this meal is the waiter who delivers it to your table – his name is John Diakakis, and he is blind.
