A Sick Man's Health Greatly Improved By The Love Of His Dog
A very sick James Wathen, 73, had stopped eating and became very weak. While in the hospital, he told a nurse he missed his dog. Realizing the importance of his dog, the nurses set out to find him. They found the one-eyed Chihuahua, Bubba, had been placed with a foster family after being at Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter. The president of the facility, Mary-Ann Smyth told Today that the dog too had fallen ill and was barely eating. Once the dog was reunited with his owner, the two almost instantaneously became healthier and more alive. Smyth told Today, “He (Bubba) was so sad at first. We had him wrapped in a baby blanket and he was shivering. The minute we got about 20 steps from this guy’s room — I kid you not — his little head went up. His eyes got real bright and he was like a different dog.” After a second visit, James was also noticeably healthier. "He’s done a complete turnaround. He's speaking, he's sitting up, he’s eating. He doesn't look like the same guy," Smyth told Today. This proves the power of love and the importance of relationships, especially with animals!
