A Miracle Brought Boy Back To Life After 100 Minutes Of CPR
"It was an act of God," said grateful mother, Rose Martin. "There is no doubt in my mind it's a miracle. God had the right people in the right place at the right time and they all did a wonderful job."
Gardell Martin can live to tell the miracle he experienced after nearly drowning in a creek. The 22-month-old went out to play with his brothers on their 5 acre property. He fell into the a creek that runs behind their house. A neighbor found the boy nearly a quarter-mile away. The ambulance got there and began CPR. It continued for 101 minutes after he was found.
Without giving up, his heart restarted; hours later he regained consciousness. Dr. Richard Lambert, the attending physician in the pediatric intensive care unit, said Gardell belonged in a "rare, rare, extreme category for recovery." There is no way to explain this sort of thing. It was clearly a miracle. Against all odds, Gardell survived. He will go on to live without any permanent damage to his brain or well being. His parents aren't even sure if he remembers what happened, because he can't really talk yet, but we hope he doesn't!
