2nd Grader Files To Adopt A Horse; Her Life Was Changed Forever

When a determined 2nd grader wants something, they will stop at nothing to get it. Lucie Bohnsack, 8 from Darien CT, has wanted a horse for years. She grew up riding horses and naturally wants her own. The determined girl took to the web and searched for free horses.

She came across the Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center in Murchison, TX. She found the application to adopt a horse and filled it out. This adorable go getter doesn't care that she's only in 2nd grade, she wants a horse! Her application is too cute and states: “Dear Sir or Madam, I know you do not usually get applications from a second grader... my mom said 'no' so I decided to take matters into my own hands and complete your adoption application.”

Lucie's Adoption Application

Although the adoption center didn't accept her application, they gave her something wonderful! She was given a trip to visit the center and Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch. Lucie and her mom went to Texas in early May. The pair got to meet many beautiful horses and a two-week-old donkey! Lucie may not have adopted a horse but she got the trip of a lifetime visiting America's largest animal sanctuary.

This trip proved to be life changing for Lucie. The animal lover has become and 8-year-old advocate devoting her life to saving her furry friends.
