2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament...in Smiles!

It's March Madness! You know what that means...time to fill out your brackets. We here at the HooplaHa HQ decided to take a different approach in filling out ours. Eschewing considerations of rank, RPI, play styles, and other fancy sabermetrics we broke down each matchup using just one key factor: which team has the player with the best smile?

Simple and fun! We chose one player from each of the 68 teams in the field to represent their team with their amazing smile. Our judges were given no team affiliations or ranks, just pictures of the players smiles only (nothing above the nose or below the chin) matched up head-to-head and it was up to them to choose which they thought was better. As every smile represented is undeniably great, the matchups proved particularly difficult to decide. After furious debate and more than a few broken hearts, we were able to work our way through each round until we had our tournament MVS (Most Valuable Smile).

The results were interesting to say the least...

The top ranked teams not only have the best players but apparently the best smiles as well. Our bracket is surprisingly chalk all the way through the Sweet 16.

Not-so-bold but key first round picks: #10 Cincinnati over #7 Creighton, #9 Wichita St. over #8 Pittsburgh, #10 Iowa St. over #7 Notre Dame, #9 Temple over #8 NC State

The Elite 8 is where things get interesting. The #2 seeds rule the roost as Duke, Ohio St. and Miami all advance to the Final Four. Kansas is the lone #1 left standing.

According to our extremely scientific system, the National Championship game will be played between Miami and Ohio State. So the question is...who's smile is better?

Tough decision time. While we like the understated, slightly askew, charm of Adam's smile we simply could not deny the majesty of Trey's. Just look at that kisser!

We're going with the Miami Hurricane to take home the 2013 Wooden trophy! Go Canes!
