12-Year-Old Explains Egypt's Problems, Sets Example For The Rest Of Us
I doubt the reporter for El Wady, an Egyptian news outlet, had any idea what she was about to get when she approached Ali Ahmed, a 12-year-old protester in Cairo on Oct. 19, 2012. I love her level of humility when Ahmed mentions "fascist theocracy," and she responds, "I don't even know what that means." He explains that, and a lot more as if it were common knowledge.
Ahmed, as The Washington Post puts it, seems to grasp nuances that are way, way beyond his reading level. He's quite possibly the youngest role model for staying informed, and taking the political and social climates of your homeland seriously.
