10 Hot Dogs You Must Try For Memorial Day

What comes to mind when we think of Memorial Day is the inevitable barbeque. Whether it's at your house or at Great Aunt Sally's, the main course will most definitely involve hot dogs in some way. While some of us are content with the traditional dog with mustard and/or ketchup, some of us need more variety in our lives. Here are 10 hot dogs combos that you can try at your Memorial Day barbeque:

1. Chili and Nacho Cheese

Find recipe on: 1CupAwesome

Nothing too crazy to start us off but this combination, popularly referred to as the 'Chili Cheese Dog,' will tantalize your taste buds and give you something different than your usual dog. Delicious

2. Philly Cheesesteak (Grilled Onions, Cheese, Thinly sliced steak)

Find recipe on: BlogChef.net

Cheesesteak? On a hot dog? That's crazy talk. Or is it? Don't be silly, it's probably amazing. Just look at that picture. You can't go wrong with steak.

3. Reuben (Sauerkraut, Russian Dressing, Melted Swiss Cheese)

Find recipe on: Serious Eats

Some people already put sauerkraut on hot dogs so why not spice it up with this New York deli classic? If you don't like sauerkraut, you can add coleslaw. Either way, all signs point to this being a good idea.

4. The "Hollywood"

Find recipe on: Times of India

The Times of India refer to this as the "Hollywood Dog." I'm not sure why, but it caught my attention. After reading the list of ingredients, it caught my appetite. Click the link in the caption to see what I'm talking about. YUM.

5. Buffalo Wing (Hot Sauce, Blue Cheese dressing, Celery)

Find Recipe on: Noble Pig

Do I really need to talk this one up? Nope, I don't.

6. Southern (Barbeque Sauce, Melted American, Bacon, Onion Straws)

Yelp

This one might provide you a trip to the hospital but at least it provided you with savory goodness first. Found the ingredients to this bad boy, colloquially referred to as the "White Trash Wedding Hot Dog," on Yelp: Beer cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, fried onion straws on an all-beef hot dog. Amazing.

7. BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato)

Find recipe on: Kraft

A BLT is already half of a sandwich. Why not add a hot dog to that other half?

8. Mac and Cheese

Taste and Tell Find recipe on: Taste and Tell

If you were to ask me what mac and cheese ISN'T good with I would show you nothing because mac and cheese is delicious with everything. Case dismissed.

9. California (Avocado, Red Onion, Alfalfa sprouts)

Find recipe on: Eating Well

For those health fanatics out there, this is the dog for you. Filled with some nutritious ingredients, this should give off the impression that you're hanging out on a boardwalk in Southern California (or not, I have no control of what you do while you eat).

10. Hawaiian (Pineapple, Red Onion, Barbeque Sauce)

Find recipe on: Taste and Tell

This dog allows you to have a Hawaiian vacation right in your backyard (or your Great Aunt Sally's). The three main ingredients blend in such a way that you can't help but love it.

Farm Becomes Sanctuary for Animals After Tragedy

The impetus for the creation of the Ima Survivor Animal Sanctuary was the awful week in August 2017 when Hurricane Harvey meandered about southeast Texas unleashing biblical amounts of rain and wreaking havoc on the people and animals who lived there. The survival of a donkey named Ima Jean from 6 foot flood waters, her struggle to live and the fight to survive by her and the other animals from Lester Morrow's ranch is the inspiration for this unique habitat.

Rescue, Transform, Share: How an Ohio Soup Shack Is Saving Lives

"It really does take a village to help people," says Sandra Lettie, a volunteer with La Soupe in Cincinnati, Ohio. La Soupe is helping to build and activate just such a "village" of compassionate people from the local area around the goal of producing food from discarded produce and providing it to families in need.

According to La Soupe's CEO, Suzy DeYoung, the organization's central mission is to "rescue, transform, and share." First, volunteers with La Soupe visit grocery stores and farms to pick up produce that was going to be discarded and "rescue" it for use in the soups that the team creates. That produce is then "transformed" into healthy, delicious food by the chefs at La Soupe. Finally, the food is "shared" with those in the local community who need it.
